The main event is Day Shift (2022, Netflix), Jamie Foxx's John Wick-with-vampires action comedy, and Sonny turns the review into a live memory experiment, narrating on-mic what he can actually recall weeks after watching it unreviewed and landing on a thumbs-down: the movie has exactly two good action set pieces (the cold open and a mid-film brawl with Scott Adkins as an Armenian vampire enforcer) buried under endless, pointless lore-dumping about vampire types and union rules. Vic scores it a Quadrant A+ (plot) / B+ (duration) / C (action-violence) / F (sex-nudity), calling it forgettable Netflix-sheen filler he nonetheless enjoyed for Jamie Foxx, while JVL is harshest, dismissing it as pure "news hole" content with no real idea behind it — unlike Bright — and comparing it unfavorably to a random episode of NCIS: New Orleans; Sonny offers a partial defense of the John Wick-with-vampires pitch even while agreeing the execution fails. JVL00:01:22store at sub beacon calm well I'm gonna go and buy a bunch of new t-shirts because all of my sub beacon t-shirts have finally worn off so they did they just they're just you know there's nothing on them they just look like plain green t-shirts now that happens that happens gentlemen how are we JVL what's going on there's only one thing I want to talk about today Oh the Queen RIP the Queen no although it is the throne so my my wife sent you fellas and oh yes yes yes a story from Washingtonian magazine about a local tech company which is is trying to renovate the portable toilet yes and they say that I don't know if you guys read the story I'll I'll sum it up for people if they haven't that you know it is a real problem having port-a-johns and subpar public restrooms and that have you how often have you had to use one of those like for number two for John for number two yes I would sooner die thank you well I'll go fully septic and wind up yes before before I do that yes get a cork okay so I I anyway so with the way it is they have these high-tech portable bathrooms with their own onboard water supply and they're very large they're not they're not portage on size they're the size of like you know a pod you know the shipping pods that you have dropped they're about the size of that yes I saw and so they're almost semi-permanent they are the electricity is done solar power so they got solar panels on the roof and you go inside and we got pictures in the Washingtonian piece and it's very nice looking and there is a sink a sink with running water and soap to wash your hands

JVL00:03:49I don't live in that fucking town anymore Sonny well all I know is here's here's the key here's the key okay it is app access so you you get an app discrimination your phone well hold up hold on hold on Victorino because I know where you're going with this download an app to your phone and that will tweet you know he said oh I need to go to the bathroom and it tells you where the nearest throne is and you it's like making an appointment almost like you say okay I'm at the throne I'm at the throne it sends you a QR code make an appointment I feel like you scan it and you get to go inside and use the facilities that's how it's it's it sends you a QR code and opens up here is the innovation are you ready yeah I know what you're thinking you're thinking why isn't this going to degenerate into Port Authority yes the way all public restrooms because it's completely dependent on the user ah well because throne is able to track who uses it and when when you go into the throne you are asked to rank the cleanliness of it and the person who was there before you is ranked by you and so you get you get a cleanliness ranking and if your ranking goes down throne says you can't use their their facilities anymore

Sonny00:12:20that you just give him a nod like hey how are you it is it is like buried back there so you really you have to walk past like six staffers to get there yes you do have to walk through you have to look them in the eye yeah you didn't
Vic00:12:31just be like you have to look like you know where you're going wheel your shopping cart past them no you have to know what you have to look like no way and it's so luxurious and and that's my recommendation but if I weren't let me just say this if I were if I were to be one of these people who using this throne app I would have a very high rating it would be like Japanese level that clean
JVL00:12:57just a number of stars you rate by ethnic stereotypes a lot of ways this could go off the rails right okay and that's yeah I have I sunny and answered your question about whether or not the the exclusion of people who are disadvantaged should be a selling point I am certain that the reality of it is yes that's what it what it is but because they're a tech company and they're saving the world they can't say that they have to pretend that you know we're gonna really we're gonna really effort this problem of helping people who don't have cell phones to get equal access because it's deeply important just feels like it feels like a mistake

Sonny00:17:49stalls you know I don't know does that does it really work I went to I went to a club in the Czech Republic once oh yeah sure I went to a club in the Czech Republic once and they had a bathroom attendant who would like whose job it was to collect that they didn't have like it wasn't a coin oh it's like a dish right you had to pay you know like 50 kroner or whatever the same thing to get to get in and go to the go to the bathroom which I found I don't mind I destroy it I mean I like I mind that much less than like a bathroom attendant

Sonny00:23:29bathroom that was very good uh I'm I'm fine exciting exciting news in the bunch household oh we are our youngest our three-year-old you know he he he yeah we built it we built him a racecar bed he got out he finally got out of the crib at like you know two two years he'd been in there for a long time sure I told you guys this he like climbed out once and he fell oh and he just never did it again staying in here safe we were finally we were finally all right he's he's got to get a regular bed so we we got him the regular bed and this of course has led to a creeping creeping Lee earlier wake-up time every every few days or so it's like oh he's up at 6:15 oh he's up at 6:00 I hope he's up at 5:45 and the other day it was finally to my it was it was actually after it was after last week's show I think I like I got no sleep cuz he woke up at 1:30 in the morning and he came into our bedroom was like I want to play I was like you go back to bed and then and then he did it again at like 3:45 so I like I just didn't get any sleep I didn't get any sleep and I was like this has to change has to change and I had heard of a thing I'd heard of a thing essentially a

Sonny00:25:54want to be cruel or push it or anything but like what we just we I don't want to be bothered he'll be the clock so we put it we put it in there and the first night we got we got it on we got it on I want to say we got it on Tuesday no Monday night we got it on Monday night and in and that was the you know that was Labor Day right so you know they were home but we were able we were able to the pool it was tired whatever so he he didn't wake up till like 6:15 the thing had already been green for you know 15 minutes second day same basic thing he he had swim lesson whatever so he slept like right up till 6:00 when it when the thing went up people but last on on Wednesday night on Wednesday night he woke up he woke up at like 5:45 he went to the bathroom and then he went back to bed he went back to bed he got up at 6:00 when the thing turned green

JVL00:27:05room you know it's funny you say this because with all four of my kids for each of them even today twice a year they will have like a three thirty eight a.m. wake-up time like it you never know when it's gonna happen just like they're up at 3:30 and they can't go back to sleep but with G money who is very much like like your son just getting up earlier and earlier and earlier we solved it by having the school year start and since the school year started this Tuesday all of a sudden I have to wake him from a dead sleep every morning

Vic00:28:06and get a little bit more sleep good for you thoughts and prayers Victorino how are you buddy I'm fine as you can see I'm in my office at late night and it is because Kate is at a work retreat and she took her laptop and I did not I still haven't gotten a new computer mmm so I said well I just come down here for it that's fine so that's this is why I'm here but I did want to mention over the weekend I went over to visit with my night friends and I saw a guy who I hadn't seen in a while and I said I was in fact I wasn't even sure if it was the same guy but then I as I approached him it was and the reason why I didn't recognize him because he had lost 60 pounds 60 good for him good for him any else has how like a mustache go team the whole thing but I was like I can't believe how great you look and then I started asking questions and then I thought oh man I'm gonna be like what's your diet and I'm like please don't tell me the diet is chemo stomach cancer please please yeah once you start talking and I can't stop and I'm like it's too late I'm like asking too many questions but no amazingly that wasn't it he said he went to his doctor the doctor said he was developing a slight blockage and if he wants to prevent if he doesn't want to have to go in there put a stent or anything else he needs to lose weight and soon and a lot of weight so he follows this thing called a it's a blood type diet where you're dieting apparently blood types have different things you eat so he's blood type a and apparently it's all about you know acids and things like that so he doesn't have because he was getting all this heartburn and what do you call it acid reflux and it's wearing down the esophagus and the night sweats so he's like no it's great it's fantastic I just I just don't eat red meat anymore I don't drink beer or red wine not a lot of tomato sauce red sauce I don't eat pizza oh but I can't have I can have

Vic00:30:18told me I can make it to 90 but give up all those things I would say probably not 80 if you told me I can make it to 50 without eating all these things I'd be like yeah I think I'd take a chance I think I'll take a chance I just roll the dice no I mean I just it would be like it would it would be like I don't know it would be like my version of like you know living in hell or purgatory for that matter speaking of purgatory over the weekend Top Gun Maverick was back at
